Oral Thrush
Meaning:
Yeast(fungal) infections in the form of creamy white lesions or line and bumps all over the mouth -tongue and inside the cheeks.
Reason: Immune system helps to maintain balance between micro organisms inside the mouth but sometimes the count of CANDIDA ALBICANS increases leading to thrush.
Symptoms Adults and Children:
Creamy raised white lesions over inside cheeks.
Soreness , burning sensation , difficulty in swallowing and eating.
Slight bleeding when rubbed.
Loss of taste.
Cracking of corner of mouth.
Infants and breast feeding mother:
Red, cracked, itchy nipples.
Painful during feeding.
Pain in the breast.
Shiny, flaky area near nipple.
Risk Factors:
Weakened immune system.
Diabetes.
Vaginal yeast infections.
Medications.
Denture wearers.
Prevention:
Rinsing your mouth warm saline water.
Brushing twice.
Check on dietary food.
maintaining good sugar level.
Treatment:
Anti thrush drugs - nystatin, miconazole.
Topical oral suspension.
Amphotericin B.
